Quarkophobic W' for LHC searches
We consider a simplified model where a W' boson is added to the standard
model with negligible couplings to quarks, but generic couplings to leptons and
electroweak bosons. We study the implications of such a model for LHC searches.
Consequently, we propose an LHC search through the vector boson fusion topology
which would have sensitivity for such a new particle with the current
proton-proton collisions's energy and available luminosity.Comment: FPCP 2022 proceeding
On a Variational Method for Stiff Differential Equations Arising from Chemistry Kinetics
For the approximation of stiff systems of ODEs arising from chemistry kinetics, implicit
integrators emerge as good candidates. This paper proposes a variational approach for this type
of systems. In addition to introducing the technique, we present its most basic properties and test
its numerical performance through some experiments. The main advantage with respect to other
implicit methods is that our approach has a global convergence. The other approaches need to
ensure convergence of the iterative scheme used to approximate the associated nonlinear equations
that appear for the implicitness. Notice that these iterative methods, for these nonlinear equations,
have bounded basins of attraction
Innovation and governance of the cannabis crop value chain
In this contribution, we present an overview of the organization and positionings of the cannabis value chain in Europe and the USA. As a first step, attention will be given to the development of the cannabis industry and its main regulatory framework on both sides of the Atlantic. As an emerging and fast-developing value chain, consideration will be given to the research and innovation networks identified through bibliometric analysis. The contribution finalizes by reporting on the future steps to assess the main enabling and blocking drivers for the development of the cannabis value chain, understood as an innovative value chain where various actors interact within this highly regulated agricultural sector
The Mono-Tau Menace: From Decays to High- Tails
We investigate the crossing-symmetry relation between
decay and scattering to derive direct correlations
of New Physics in semi-tauonic -meson decays and the mono-tau signature at
the LHC ( + MET). Using an exhaustive set of effective operators
and heavy mediators we find that the current ATLAS and CMS data constrain
scenarios addressing anomalies in -decays. Pure tensor solutions, completed
by leptoquark, and right-handed solutions, completed by or
leptoquark, are challenged by our analysis. Furthermore, the sensitivity that
will be achieved in the high-luminosity phase of the LHC will probe the
possible scenarios that explain the anomalies. Finally, we note that the LHC is
also competitive in the transitions and bounds in some cases are
currently better than those from decays.Comment: No comment

Vector boson fusion topology and simplified models for dark matter searches at colliders
In this paper we study the possible searches at colliders using Vector Boson
Fusion topology in the context of Simplified Models signatures. We examine the
possible physics reach of these searches with regard to monojet-type searches,
and determine how these two signatures are complementary
Energy Efficiency Indicators for Assessing Construction Systems Storing Renewable Energy: Application to Phase Change Material-Bearing Façades
Assessing the performance or energy efficiency of a single construction element by itself is often a futile exercise. That is not the case, however, when an element is designed, among others, to improve building energy performance by harnessing renewable energy in a process that requires a source of external energy. Harnessing renewable energy is acquiring growing interest in Mediterranean climates as a strategy for reducing the energy consumed by buildings. When such reduction is oriented to lowering demand, the strategy consists in reducing the building’s energy needs with the use of construction elements able to passively absorb, dissipate, or accumulate energy. When reduction is pursued through M&E services, renewable energy enhances building performance. The efficiency of construction systems that use renewable energy but require a supplementary power supply to operate can be assessed by likening these systems to regenerative heat exchangers built into the building. The indicators needed for this purpose are particularly useful for designers, for they can be used to compare the efficiency or performance to deliver an optimal design for each building. This article proposes a series of indicators developed to that end and describes their application to façades bearing phase change materials (PCMs)
